Which Celebrities Did Lily Allen Hook up With in Japan?

Lily Allen says she has only ever pursued two celebrity hookups but who are they?

The ever-candid singer dropped her best advice for securing a celebrity hookup in a video shared on Interview Magazine’s Instagram, saying, “I’ve only done this a couple of times. It’s been quite meticulously planned.”

“There was a particular celebrity that I was really after, romantically, and I looked at his touring schedule and he was gonna be in Japan,” Allen continued. “So I made sure that I was at this festival and that I would be one of the very few English-speaking people at the same festival as him.”

Allen then added that both of her celebrity hookups have been in Japan, leaving us with plenty of clues to find out which famous person Allen hooked up with. So, let’s get to work.

Who did Allen hook up with at a music festival in Japan? We know that one of her Japan dalliances was with Oasis’ Liam Gallagher, a fact she revealed in her 2018 memoir, My Thoughts Exactly.

Allen had sex with Gallagher in 2009 while on a plane to the Fuji Rock Festival in Japan. “We got hammered on the plane,” she wrote in her book. “At some point Liam and I found ourselves together in the toilet doing something that he shouldn’t have been doing, and it wasn’t drugs. Then we were in a lie-down bed together.”

“When we landed in Tokyo, Liam said, in his distinctive nasal twang, ‘What you doing now? Why don’t you come back to our hotel’… I was like, ‘Yeah, OK.’” The controversial part of this hookup was that Gallagher was still married to Nicole Appleton at the time of his and Allen’s entry to the mile-high club.

Allen claimed Appleton eventually learned about their hookup six months later. Appleton, who shares son Gene with Gallagher, split from the rocker in 2013 after he fathered a child with an American journalist.

The exact identity of Allen’s other celebrity hookup, likely the encounter she described to Interview Magazine, is a little harder to confirm but she did give more details about the interaction during a 2024 episode of her podcast, Miss Me.

Allen’s longtime best friend and podcast co-host Miquita Oliver revealed that Allen hooked up with her crush during the early 2000s, while they were both teenagers. “There was a pop star,” Oliver said, keeping the celebrity anonymous. “I found out that he fancied me. I told Lily that I liked him. Cue Lily, gets herself to a festival in Japan and seduces him.”

Allen admitted that she flew to Japan to specifically “lock that one in” and added: “I fancied him, so I was getting mine. By the way, I think pop stars are fair game, like, I don’t care.”

Oliver replied: “If I didn’t hate you so much for it, I would have applauded you. It was admirable.”

Allen is currently promoting her fifth studio album, West End Girl, which chronicles the downfall of her marriage to Stranger Things actor David Harbour, to whom she was married from 2020 until late 2024.
