MAN v FAT, the UK’s leading male weight loss programme, is to partner with Northampton Saints to support men in the town to take steps to improve their health and wellbeing.
Having supported tens of thousands of men to lose nearly 1,000,000lbs of weight since they got started in 2014, MAN v FAT picked up the oval ball in 2024 to further spread the word on male wellbeing.
And Saints are set to become the first Rugby Union side to join up with MAN v FAT Rugby, with the club due to get underway in March at the Northampton Saints High Performance Centre.
Karl White, MAN v FAT’s Rugby Lead said: “We can’t wait to bring MAN v FAT Rugby to Northampton. Having a club the size of Northampton Saints as our first Rugby Union partner is brilliant!
“The town is well known for its rugby both from a first team point of view as well as the amazing work Northampton Saints deliver in the community, so we look forward to getting started in March 2026.
“An added extra to the partnership is the fact that the club will be operating from their High Performance Centre, I am sure this will entice a few more guys to dust off their boots and get involved.”
Northampton Saints have a wide reaching community programme, supporting a range of impactful initiatives and the team there are pleased to be adding MAN v FAT Rugby to their mix.
Jamie Higgins, Inclusion Officer, said: “Northampton Saints Community are proud to partner with MAN v FAT Rugby to deliver the MAN v FAT weight loss and wellbeing programme.
“This initiative sits firmly within our Inclusion Programmes, reinforcing our commitment to improving health and wellbeing. By combining the power of rugby with structured weight management and mental health support, the programme provides an inclusive, supportive environment that helps men make positive, sustainable lifestyle changes both on and off the pitch.”
Having launched a number of clubs at the tail end of 2024, the MAN v FAT team are already seeing successes on the scales in their Rugby clubs too – and Karl is confident that similar achievements will be made in Northampton: “MAN v FAT Football succeeds off the back of a strong community feel and we know that community is a reason why rugby clubs up and down the country prosper.
“We have already seen some strong friendships built in our initial Rugby clubs and are looking forward to seeing this unfold in Northampton too.”
As with MAN v FAT Football, rugby participants would need to be aged 18+ with a BMI of 27.5 or higher to get started. More details about the programme and how to register can be found at www.manvfatrugby.com.
