Here’s a bit of life lately!

While yes, as spring break ticks onward, I do need some space! But what I really mean is there are so many space-themed happenings right now!
- Project Hail Mary – LOVED it!! So good. I loved that it wasn’t action-packed (I dislike action movies) but was still great for all ages.
- Atmosphere – still reading it slowly, but it has gotten really good. And I really appreciated knowing a bit more about astronaut training as I watched Hail Mary.
- Artemis II – Because of the above two things, I’ve been more interested in Artemis II’s mission!
I can tell you this: I do NOT want to go into space! Ironically, I get claustrophobic just thinking about it! I think I actually do have a fear of heights because in Hail Mary when he peers over the edge of the ship – OMG – that was scary!!
I’ll take wide open spaces please.

Moving from space to the horror genre, Birch has gotten into Goosebumps books! I read them all when I was younger (and Fear Street, too) so I’m excited about this new interest.

He isn’t blowing through them – I think he’s a little more into the idea of them than actually sitting down to read. We found a few at the library!

Bloody Summer Camp 2
In the adult horror genre, I got to go to the premiere of Bloody Summer Camp 2! This is the movie that my friend Sean and Jonathon worked on (Sean as an actor, Jonathon as the main sound guy). Since we had that connection, Mazen and Birch got to act as campers in the opening scene! It was so fun to see everyone on the big screen. The movie was very good (if you like slasher films with lots of blood)!

After the viewing, there was a Q+A with the cast and crew. They’re bringing it to Charlottesville in May. if anyone wants to go – email me! It will be on streaming eventually.

Also horrifying? The spot under my washer/dryer.

But all for good reason – I got a new one!!! SO SO SO happy about this because the old one was the tiniest washer ever, and I had to do laundry all the time since only tiny loads would fit. The new one is literally 2x as big, and I’m thrilled!!

Easter Fun
We had a low-key, but fun, weekend. By an Easter miracle, the boys actually played well together for the first time in a while!

Note B’s basket was full of things when he got up, but had been emptied for the pic! His hair is wet because he had to try out his bath bombs right away!

It rained all morning, so we postponed our annual neighborhood egg hunt until the afternoon when the sun came out and it was gorgeous! I brought a Cinnamon Chip bunny from Great Harvest.

We hid hundreds of eggs and the kids found them all in 10 minutes!

Outings
Girls night at Lost Saint
This burrata and butternut toast was amazing!!

Happy Hour Thursdays going strong!

Friends go to Tavola

Had to get the burrata there too. Obvi.

Kath Eats Real Food
And here’s a round-up of food lately!
Breakfasts
Lots of grapes, homemade granola, Irish soda bread, and berries.

Lunches
Salmon salad is my newest obsession. This smoked salmon from Fishwife turns into the best salad with three ingredients: yogurt, mayo, orange marmalade. I love it on crackers or with carrot chips and Sun Chips.

Mazen and I got all his favorite sandwich ingredients at Wegman’s for spring break, and we had pork tenderloin sourdough sandwiches for lunch! (This child has bougie taste.)

I would eat Chopt salad everyday for lunch if I could afford to <3

Dinners
A few dinner highlights:
I made this orzo salad for a make-ahead dinner. So delicious with roasted chicken!

Here is the Fit Foodie Freezer Meal #2: Chicken with Gnocchi. I think my crockpot must be extra hot because my gnocchi melted, but otherwise it was pretty good!

Salmon Burgers
Got these at Wegman’s – they were good! LOVE these Recess mocktails! Island Spritz is the best.

And lastly: good old spaghetti and meat sauce!

Hope you have a great weekend!
