Easy Fruit Dip (3 Ingredients)

Here’s a go-to recipe for when you need a party dip or healthy snack: my easy fruit dip! It’s 3 ingredients, takes 2 minutes, and tastes incredible.

Believe me when I say: I’ve eaten a lot of fruit dips over the years. This one is the absolute best I’ve had, and it’s 100% homemade. No need to buy store-bought dip, which is usually extremely sweet or artificial tasting. This one tastes beautifully natural, simply sweet, and a base of Greek yogurt keeps it healthy and natural. When I say I make this one all the time: I mean all the time.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

  • 3 ingredients, 2 minutes: It’s one of the simplest recipes I know!
  • Naturally sweet: Maple syrup (or honey) keeps this fruit dip recipe wholesome.
  • Lighter than cream cheese fruit dip: Greek yogurt gives you all the creaminess you need.
  • Kid-friendly and crowd-pleasing: My kids request this for after-school snacks and it disappears at parties in a flash.

Ingredients You’ll Need

There are several types of creamy fruit dip out there: a popular version is made with marshmallow creme and cream cheese. But we’ve found our favorite type is even simpler and fresher, with a base of creamy Greek yogurt. It’s just as creamy, easier to make, and has a light and fresh flavor. Here’s what you’ll need for this fruit dip recipe:

  • Greek yogurt: I like full-fat or whole milk Greek yogurt for the best texture and flavor. It’s thick, creamy, and high in protein (low fat can work, but it’s not quite as satisfying).
  • Pure maple syrup or honey: Either sweetener works here, and they both add subtle flavor notes: maple syrup has caramel notes and honey has more floral, lighter notes. I always use maple syrup marked “Grade A: Dark Color and Robust Taste”: I find it has the best flavor.
  • Vanilla extract: Vanilla rounds out the sweetness and gives it an irresistible flavor nuance.

Flavor Variations

This fruit dip recipe is my favorite: basic, straightforward, sweet and pure, with a hint of vanilla. But there are a few other ways you can mix up the flavor in this dip! Here are a few ways to vary the flavor:

  • Cinnamon Fruit Dip: Add ½ teaspoon cinnamon for a spiced dip.
  • Chocolate Fruit Dip: Add 3 tablespoons cocoa powder, then taste and add additional sweetener if necessary.
  • Peanut Butter Dip: Stir in ¼ cup creamy peanut butter, like my popular Peanut Butter Dip.
  • Pumpkin Dip: Add ⅓ cup canned pumpkin, ½ teaspoon cinnamon, ¼ teaspoon ginger and ⅛ teaspoon nutmeg to make Pumpkin Fruit Dip.
  • Dairy-Free Version: Swap in a thick, unsweetened coconut milk yogurt. The result is slightly different in flavor but still delicious,

Of course, you’ve got your own ideas on what fruits to serve with this dip. But here are a few of the fruits and other foods I’ve found work the best. You can even make fruit skewers for a fun presentation! Here’s what I like to serve with fruit dip:

Best Fruits for Dipping

  • Strawberries
  • Apple slices
  • Pineapple or watermelon chunks
  • Grapes
  • Blueberries. raspberries or blackberries
  • Cantaloupe or honeydew melon
  • Kiwi
  • Banana slices

Other Great Dippers

  • Graham crackers
  • Angel food cake
  • Pound cake cubes
  • Pretzels

This fruit dip recipe is perfect as a summer appetizer, party food, healthy lunch idea or healthy snack. It even doubles as a light dessert! I love serving it after a summer meal: it’s extremely refreshing and everyone loves it: and it’s especially kid friendly.

Storage & Make-Ahead Notes

Store leftover fruit dip in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 10 days. Give it a quick stir before serving, as it can separate slightly. While I have not tried it, in theory you can freeze yogurt.

This is a great make-ahead recipe: mix it the night before a party and refrigerate it overnight before serving.

Dietary Notes

This fruit dip recipe is vegetarian and gluten-free.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Greek yogurt (full fat or whole milk)
  • 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup or honey
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract*

Instructions

  1. Mix all ingredients in a bowl. Serve immediately with fruit for dipping, or refrigerate up to 10 days.

Notes

Sweetener: Maple syrup and honey both work well. Maple syrup has a warmer flavor (I use this most often); honey is lighter and slightly floral.

Yogurt: Full-fat Greek yogurt gives the best thick, creamy texture. Low-fat will work but will be thinner.

Flavor variations: Add ½ tsp cinnamon for a spiced dip. Stir in 3 tablespoons cocoa powder for a chocolate version. Add ¼ cup peanut butter for a nutty variation. See  my Pumpkin Fruit Dip and Cinnamon Yogurt Fruit Dip.

Dairy-free: Substitute a thick unsweetened vegan coconut yogurt. I like the brand Cocojune.
