First Look at Season 4 of ‘CoComelon Lane’

It’s nearly time to take a trip back to CoComelon Lane. JJ and his friends are back for season 4 of the Netflix show, premiering on March 17. This time, they’re back and ready to celebrate big milestones, like first pets and birthdays.

JJ, along with his friends Cody, CeCe, Nina, Bella, and Nico, are facing some of their biggest challenges yet while returning to the themes that make the show so beloved in the first place.

All About ‘CoComelon Lane’ Season 4

As always, CoComelon Lane uses music and games to entertain viewers, so kids are going to love the new season of the show no matter what. But parents will have plenty to love about the new season, too, which tackles “milestones, emotions, coping skills,” says Meghan Sheridan, Senior Creative Executive at Moonbug Entertainment.

The value kids learn on the show will stay with them as they grow—potentially reinforcing the values they are learning at home from their parents. Sheridan says the episodes “explore the importance of kindness, compassion, [and] patience.”

For instance, in one episode, JJ’s friend Cece learns to be confident in dance class, rather than comparing herself to others. In another episode, kids will learn the importance of supporting their friends, when YoYo and TomTom help out JJ after he gets hurt rollerblading.

Here’s an exclusive look at the sweet moment:

Lessons in Handling Big Feelings

The crew also visits the beach, and takes dance and taekwondo classes. The friends are all about trying new things in season 4. With some new experiences come some big emotions. The show isn’t afraid to talk about—even offering kids a few useful tools for handling their feelings when they do come up.

“Every parent knows what it’s like when your child occasionally gets overexcited or is having a hard time focusing. In our ‘Nina Does Taekwondo’ episode, Nina is so excited about her brand-new class that she wants to run around and take in everything around her,” Sheridan tells Parents.

“CoComelon Lane helps give little kids words to explain this type of feeling: ‘when [your] eyes just want to look all around’ you might be feeling distracted. If you need to focus, just remember ‘three claps [help] to bring your attention back,’” she continues. “Being able to identify what you’re feeling is the first step in helping kids process these types of emotions [and] is an incredible tool for empowering children and giving them confidence.”

The show works with educational consultant Dr. Alisha Crawley-Davis to integrate valuable lessons into each episode of CoComelon Lane. These lessons can be applied to their daily lives, thanks to Dr. Crawley-Davis’s expertise, who Sheridan says “helped identify emotions and coping mechanisms we were able to imbue into the show in an authentic way.”

In fact, it was one of the show’s central goals to make sure “want families and their children to see themselves and their experiences reflected in the storytelling.”

Families can also look forward to plenty more adventures similar to the taekwondo class, some of which might even inspire your kids to get out there and try something new, too. In the new season viewers will “join JJ and his friends for a birthday at the fire station, a friends’ tea party, and a super adorable pet party filled with pet races and photo booths,” Sheridan says.

The Growing Popularity of ‘CoComelon’

Since its launch in 2006, CoComelon has transformed into a phenomenon among kids and parents. So what has been the key to its success?

Well, Sheridan thinks it’s a combination of the fact kids are able to relate to the show’s characters, while being drawn into the show’s catchy original songs and dances—there’s even a CoComelon Lane musical special. The strategy seems to be working, because families swear by its ability to entertain and educate kids.

So gather on the couch and get ready to visit JJ and friends again in season 4. As Sheridan puts it, “It’s always a great day on CoComelon Lane.”
