Threapleton is the Oscar winner’s oldest child and only daughter, born in 2000 during her marriage to ex-husband Jim Threapleton, just less than a year before the couple announced their split. Winslet later welcomed 21-year-old son Joe Alfie Mendes with her ex-husband Sam Mendes and 11-year-old Bear Blaze with her current husband Edward Abel Smith.
Threapleton made her acting debut with a minor role in her mom’s 2014 movie, A Little Chaos. She landed a leading role in Apple TV+ series The Buccaneers in 2023. However, The Phoenician Scheme, which earned a 6.5-minute standing ovation at Cannes, is expected to be her breakout role.
As for her mom’s influence, Threapleton opened up to The Hollywood Reporter about Winslet saying, “She really kept her work very separate from family life. Her work stayed in her office, and then when she was not in her office, she was ‘Mum.’”
“I don’t think I ever really had the thought of, ‘I’m gonna do this on my own,’” she said. “But that seems to have been what happened, and that was something that my mother was really supportive of me wanting to do, because that’s what she did when she was younger.”
